ABOUT
After working for Australia’s best for over seven years in Sydney, I decided it was time to launch my training career in the Sunshine State.
Established in May 2022, Jack Bruce Racing is a newly established training operation with patience, integrity and professionalism to deliver a unique racing experience in Brisbane.
The stable has really hit the ground running since its beginning, with a winning strike rate of 20 per cent and roughly every second runner finishing in the first three.
I pride myself on placement, transparency and getting the best out of every horse I train. I look forward to continued growth for the stable in coming years.
In addition to my experience in Sydney, I have two degrees; a double in accounting and finance and a bachelor of arts in economics. In my early twenties I was fortunate to earn a place on the Godolphin Flying Start, a two year international management and leadership programme specifically for the thoroughbred industry. Flying Start was pivotal and sent me around the world learning from the best in the business and gave me a grasp of the international industry. I also spent a racing season in Dubai with the great Mike De Kock.
EXPERIENCE
Bjorn Baker
My first role in Sydney was as right-hand man to Bjorn Baker. Bjorn and I worked very closely across every part of his business including training, communications, bloodstock and sales. In that time the stable grew dramatically and I was exposed to the competitive sphere of Sydney racing.
Chris Waller
From there I had the opportunity to work for the most successful racing stable in Australia as Racing Manager for Chris Waller. Chris needs no introduction and the opportunity to sit next to him at Rosehill and see how he operates was invaluable. Attention to detail, patience and planning, are hallmarks of his regime and his epic success is not at all surprising once you have been part of the team.
Ciaron Maher
Ciaron Maher and David Eustace provided the next stepping stone, a rare opportunity to head their Sydney stable with 60 horses in work. Ciaron and Dave are master trainers and the responsibility of managing their team was something I really enjoyed.
